
The Delaware Trout Stamp Contest was held April 18 at Owens Station in Greenwood, Del., in conjunction with the state duck stamp competition. Artist Donnie Hughes of Lexington, S.C., claimed first place over 19 other entries with a painting (adjacent image) of a brook trout that will appear on the 2010 state trout stamp. He received $250 and retains the rights to reproduce and sell prints of the stamp.
Other placements in the contest were:
Second place – Eric Jablonowski, of Washington, Pa., brown trout; Third place – David Weaver of Gettysburg, Pa., brook trout; Honorable mention: Douglas Walpus of Hartsville, Tenn., brown trout; Larry Smail of Kittanning, Pa., brown trout; and Bart Gelesh of Oxford, Pa., brown trout.

A rendering of a brown trout taking a wet fly earned an honorable mention for Douglas Walpus of Hartsville, Tenn.

Larry Smail of Kittanning, Pa., earned an honorable mention citation in the trout contest with a brook trout painting.

Another honorable mention went to artist Bart Gelesh of Oxford, Pa., for a brown trout painting.
