Pennsylvania artist Steve Oliver’s painting featuring a canvasback duck will grace the 2010 Delaware Duck Stamp.
The state duck stamp competition drew 47 entries and for winning it, Mr. Oliver, of Brookhaven, Pa., will receive a $2,500 prize and 150 artist's proofs of the limited edition print series of his entry. A full-time artist for nine years, he has placed in a number of wildlife stamp contests and wildlife art competitions in other states, including a third place on North Carolina’s 2008 Duck Stamp Competition and first place in Maryland’s 2007-2008 Black Bear Stamp contest.

Second place in the state duck stamp contest was a painting of hooded mergansers by Ron Kleiber of Erin, N.Y.

Third place in the Delaware duck stamp contest was a painting of a mallard pair by George Lockwood of Santa Ynez, Calif.

Among honorable mention citations was this painting of hooded mergansers by Jeffrey Klinefelter, an Indiana-based artist.

A shoveler duck and its reflection earned honorable mention in the state contest for Donnie Hughes, a South Carolina artist.

Yet another rendering of hood mergansers made for an honorable mention for Maryland artist Wally Makuchal.
